Highest accuracy biosignal data acquisition and processing system
g.USBamp - g.tec's latest 24 bit biosignal acquisition device - is the perfect tool for recording multimodal biosignal data with highest quality. This allows to investigate brain-, heart-, muscle-activity, eye movement, respiration, galvanic skin response and other body signals. g.USBamp is USB 2.0 enabled and comes with 16 simultaneous sampled biosignal channels. A total of 4 independent grounds guarantee no interference between the recorded signals. The amplifier is simply connected to the USB socket on your PC/notebook and can immediately be used for data recording. Build a multi-channel system with more than 16 channels using multiple g.USBamp devices (16 - 128 channels). A synchronization cable guarantees that all devices are sampling with exactly the same frequency. The amplifier has an input range of ± 250 mV, which allows to record DC signals without saturation. Digital inputs and outputs allow the recording of trigger channels together with the biosignal channels and to pass analysis results to the outside world. A short-cut input allows to connect the amplifier inputs fastly to ground potential to protect the amplifier against overflows occuring e.g. in operating rooms with gamma knifes. The g.USBamp can be combined with the g.EEGcap & the g.GAMMAcap and there is a huge range of possible electrodes.
Highlights
EEG, ECoG, ECG, EMG and EOG recording via USB
16 analog inputs with 24 Bit and a sampling frequency of up to 38.400 Hz per channel
Digital filtering of the biosignal data (DC - 2.4 kHz)
Over-sampling to achieve a high signal to noise ratio
Simultaneous sample and hold for all channels
Direct connection of electrodes with standard safety connectors or system conectors for a very fast electrode application
amplifier can be stacked to have a 32, 48, 64, 80 channel system
Excellent data quality
Each of the 16 analog to digital converters is operating at 2.4576 MHz. An oversampling of 64 times yields the internal sampling rate of 38.400 Hz per channel. A powerful floating point Digital Signal Processor performs in addition oversampling and real-time filtering of the biosignal data (between 0 Hz - 2.400 Hz). The sampling frequency can be selected up to 38.400 Hz.
Therefore, a typical sampling frequency of 256 Hz yields to an oversampling rate of 9.600. Hence, a very high signal to noise ratio is obtained especially needed in the recording of evoked potentials in EEG or in identifying small amplitude changes in high-resolution ECG recordings. You are measuring far below the noise-range of conventional amplifiers!
Filter coefficients
g.USBamp performs a bandpass and Notch filtering on a powerful Digital Signal Processor. The filters have a Butterworth caracteristic and more than 100 filters are predefined. Additionally MATLAB can be used to calculate your own filter coefficients with a specific characteristic and to download the new created coefficients to the device.
Calibration
For channel equalization - which is especially needed in multi-channel recordings - the device has an internal calibration unit. This feature adjusts the gain and offset of each channel with very high accuracy.
Test signal generation
The amplifier can generate an internal sinusoidal-, rectangular-, sawtooth or white-noise test signal. The amplitude and frequency of the signal can be modified to test the recording and analysis chain.
Skin-electrode impedance
In order to guarantee highest quality measurements the transition impedance of the skin to the electrode must be controlled. The internal impedance testing unit measures the impedance for the individual electrodes.
Split a 64 channel system
A big advantage is that e.g. a 64 channel system can be splitted into 4 separate units. When 64 channels are needed the 4 amplifiers are used together and thereafter 4 separate systems can be used e.g. for teaching purposes.
